Contest This is your chance to represent YOUR community at the LV Arts at the Park event. All contest winners will have their work printed on a large screen displayed on self-standing structures placed prominently within the park to emphasize this year's theme. Artists of all ages are encouraged to participate! Criteria are all equally weighted (see below).

Theme This year's theme for LV Arts at the Park is "Rock, Paper, Scissors." Beyond the popular hand game, these elements, independently, are all quite unique. Consider the following prompts to help you get started with your concept:

  • A literal, artistic representation of Rock, Paper, Scissors

  • Using these as materials/tools to create your artwork

  • Considering the characteristics of each element and interpreting/communicating those in interesting ways

  • Transforming these objects into other objects/given new uses

  • Creating a narrative or a statement about characteristics of these elements and/or larger social commentary

Criteria All submissions will be kept anonymous and placed before a panel of judges to review via slide presentation. The judges will use the following criteria when view the work:

10 pts - Technical Skill (Craftsman ship, elements/principles of art and design)

10 pts - Apparent Use of Theme (literally, conceptually, etc)

10 pts - Creativity (interesting use of materials and/or take on theme)

10 pts - Overall Impression (Wow factor and/or unforgettable qualities)

40 pts total
